Below are some common insurance questions and answers:

What is the cheapest policy? We understand that price is important and will make sure you are getting the best value for your money. However all insurance policies are different and it is just as important to look at what cover is provided as well as the price when doing comparisons. The team at Carr McRae will gain an understanding of your circumstances and what covers are important to you and make sure you get the cheapest policy that meets your needs. It’s no good getting the cheapest price if you are not covered!

What payment methods are available? Most policies can be paid either monthly via direct debit from your bank account or credit card. Or can be paid annually by cash, cheque, credit card, BPAY or direct debit. In the rare cases that an underwriter does not offer monthly payments we can arrange premium funding if required.

What if my finance company request proof of insurance? No problem, just provide us with the details and we will take care of it for you. We can send them a certificate of currency for your insurance anytime you require.

Can you call out and see me? Yes, insurance being so complex and involved we actually prefer in a lot of cases to call out and discuss your insurance with you face to face. It is also of benefit to us as we gain a clearer understanding of your circumstances and can provide more specific advice after having visited your premises.

How does Carr McRae make money? Won’t my insurance cost more? We will always give you a copy of our FSG (Financial Services Guide) that details the commission we receive and any fees charged before you decide. Generally an underwriter changes the same price if you deal with them directly as their administration costs are higher. If you deal through a Broker we take care of all the administration and processing including managing any claims. In fact in a lot of cases we are able to access discounts and additional policy benefits that you would not be able to if dealing direct with an underwriter.

Should I deal with Agent/Broker for my insurance or am I better off dealing directly with an insurance company? Arranging your insurance with a broker will save you time, be much easier, give you peace of mind that everything is covered and in most cases cost you less. In a world where everything is becoming increasingly complex it makes sense to outsource the task to a broker and allow them to shop around, compare covers and negotiate the best deal for your insurance saving you time and money.

Which insurance companies do you deal with? With access to 145 insurers and specialist underwriters including the 5 majors; CGU, Allianz, QBE, Vero and Zurich we have the ability to provide you the best possible solution.

I’ve thought about changing my insurance but it seems too hard and I’m concerned there may be differences in cover that I’m not aware of? We will do all the work and make the process very simple for you. And we will provide you with advice and ensure you are getting the same or better cover. In most cases save you some money to.

What type of policy do I need? That will depend of your circumstances and may also change as your circumstances do. The best thing to do would be to contact us and speak with an advisor so we can develop a risk profile for you and recommend which products will suit you the best.

How do I make a claim? Each insurance company has their own process so the best thing to do is contact us and we work though it with you. In most cases we can take care of it on your behalf. We will do everything we can to make it as simple and efficient as possible. By involving us in the process we will also make sure you receive everything you are entitled.

ZERO TOLERANCE

Carr McRae & Associates takes it very seriously if a member of our team is treated in an abusive or violent way.

To successfully provide services a mutual respect between all the staff and clients has to be in place. All our staff aim to be polite, helpful, and sensitive to all clients individual needs and circumstances. The staff understand that due to circumstances clients do not always act in a reasonable manner and will take this into consideration when trying to deal with a misunderstanding or complaint.

However, aggressive behaviour, be it violent or abusive, will not be tolerated and may result in you being removed as a client and, in extreme cases, the Police being contacted.

In order for the practice to maintain good relations with their clients the practice would like to ask all its clients to read and take note of the occasional types of behaviour that would be found unacceptable:

  • Using bad language or swearing at practice staff
  • Any physical violence towards any member of team or other clients, such as pushing or shoving
  • Verbal abuse towards the staff in any form including verbally insulting the staff
  • Racial abuse and sexual harassment will not be tolerated within this practice
  • Persistent or unrealistic demands that cause stress to staff will not be accepted. Requests will be met wherever possible and explanations given when they cannot
  • Causing damage/stealing from the Practice’s premises, staff or patients

We ask you to treat your Broker and their staff courteously at all times.

Removal from the practice list

A good broker-client relationship, based on mutual respect and trust, is the cornerstone of our service. The removal of clients from our list is an exceptional and rare event and is a last resort in an impaired client-practice relationship. When trust has irretrievably broken down, it is in the client’s interest, just as much as that of the practice, that they should find a new broker. An exception to this is on immediate removal on the grounds of violence e.g. when the Police are involved.
